From one project to an expanding community.

Founded by Kufre Antia, the organisation was established to bridge skills and generational gaps while inspiring future professionals through meaningful local and international engagement.

What began as the sustainability strategy for an award-winning Association for Project Management Project Management Challenge project has grown into an expanding community committed to professional development, innovation and knowledge exchange.

Today, Northumbria Construct serves as a bridge between universities, professional institutions, industry and emerging professionals.

Our journey

Every organisation has a beginning.

Ours began with a question.

Why do so many talented students struggle to transition successfully into industry despite years of education?

We investigated.

The Bridge the Gap project brought together students, academics, professional institutions and industry practitioners to understand the barriers preventing meaningful engagement between higher education and professional practice.

Rather than allowing these findings to become another report sitting on a shelf, the project team transformed its recommendations into an organisation.

Northumbria Construct became that organisation.

The findings

  • Networking opportunities were poorly understood.
  • Many first-generation and international students struggled to navigate the UK professional environment.
  • Industry wanted greater engagement with future professionals.
